Kota Yanagishima is a choral conductor based in Tokyo, Japan, who regularly collaborates with numerous chamber and symphonic choirs across the region. His portfolio includes work with vocalconsort initium, chamber choir vox alius, Chor OBANDES, the Yokohama Choral Society, the Tokyo Juventus Philharmonic Choir, and the Waseda University Mixed Choir. He completed his studies in choral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik Saar in Germany under the tutelage of Prof. Georg Grün (choral conducting) and Prof. Toshiyuki Kamioka (orchestral conducting). In 2015, Yanagishima’s talent was recognized with a scholarship from the Dirigentenforum (Conductors' Forum) of the German Music Council, and he was awarded the "Bach vocal" prize by Carus-Verlag. These honors provided him the opportunity to conduct prestigious professional ensembles such as the Berlin Radio Choir (Berliner Rundfunkchor), the NDR Choir, and the Kammerchor Saarbrücken as part of his artistic development. In addition to his choral work, he collaborates with emerging Early Music orchestras in Tokyo, including l'Orchestre Avant-garde and the Promusica Baroque Academy. He is also dedicated to nurturing the next generation of musicians, serving as a lecturer for choral conducting courses organized by Chorus Company Inc.
